Our office is located in Kirkwall town centre and is situated opposite ‘Employability Orkney-Restart Orkney’ in the same building as ‘Job Centre Plus’ and ‘Rural Payments & Inspections’.
There is disabled access to the building.
Please let us know if you have any mobility issues so we can prepare our ground floor meeting room.
You can view our office and get directions on the map above.
Information if you are getting to PDSO Kirkwall by bus, car and bike.
There is no direct bus service to our office. The nearest bus stop is at The Travel Centre bus station on West Castle Street. From there you should head south on Junction Road towards Tankerness Lane.
Our office entrance is on the right hand side of Junction Road as you cross over Tankerness Lane, opposite ‘Employability Orkney-Restart Orkney’.
We have no dedicated parking spaces available. However there is a Scottish Government Car park with ‘visitor’ spaces which can be used by those visiting our office. The car park is adjacent to our office.
There is also local OIC metered parking within 200 metres of our office; the majority of this parking is Pay and Display.
There is a bike rack located to the rear of the building in the Scottish Government car park.
You can enter the Scottish Government building by the main steps or a ramp at the rear entrance (round the corner from the Job Centre Plus).
There are handrails on each side of the steps and on one side of the ramp.
There is no dedicated PDSO reception. You can press the intercom button on the ground floor, which is on the wall in front of you (beside the security door on the right) before reaching the stairs. A member of staff will then greet and assist you.
If no one answers the intercom: you can go to the Rural Payments & Inspections department reception desk and they will alert a member of PDSO staff.
Sometimes we will be on business outwith the office during opening hours. If this is the case, you should telephone us on 07917 052 321.
To reach our office: You must first go through the building’s entrance lobby door, up the stairs, left to reach Rural Payments & Inspections department reception and then you will be accompanied through the security door to reach our office. We also have a ground-floor meeting room available.
Occasionally our office may be open but the main door is locked due to a Scottish Government public holiday. Please follow the instructions displayed on the sign on the main door and telephone 07917 052 321 so that a member of staff can assist you as soon as they are available.
Please note that we cannot always admit visitors who do not have a pre-arranged appointment.
There are no accessible toilets available to visitors and the building does not have a lift.
Assistance dogs are welcome in our office. Please let us know in advance if you would like us to make any special arrangements to help accommodate them. We will have a bowl of water available for them.
Please let us know in advance any support you need to visit our office or communicate with us.
